All junior cycle and TY pupils in St. Colman’s C.C. participate in a double period of Physical Education every week. All abilities are catered for through a range of individual and team activities. Our on-site indoor hall allows us to undertake PE all year round. St. Colman’s C.C. also has a high-spec indoor climbing wall, which is always very popular with pupils. Our school also has a full-size GAA pitch, which is used for a variety of sports & events. St. Colman’s C.C. enters teams from U14 to senior in hurling & football, and a strong sporting culture exists. Ladies’ football is the fastest growing sport in St. Colman’s C.C., and girls get to compete in both junior & senior competitions.
The school’s rugby team has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has participated in several tournaments. St. Colman’s C.C. are lucky to have a full-size basketball hall and both boys & girls teams compete in school competitions. Soccer is one of the most popular sports in St. Colman’s C.C., and the school has a strong tradition with teams entered in both junior and senior competitions. Athletics has also thrived in recent years with pupils regularly winning medals at both regional & national levels. Other sports pupils compete in at St. Colman’s C.C. include: tennis, badminton, golf, rowing, and cricket. St. Colman’s C.C. facilitates a wide range of sporting pursuits to facilitate our diverse student population.
In recent years, pupils have also participated in activities such as wheelchair basketball, bubble soccer, self-defence classes, and yoga, to name a few. All pupils are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities as we encourage a holistic environment where pupils get to grow and develop both socially & academically.
