German Exchange

St. Colman’s Community College runs an exchange programme with the Oskar von Miller Gymnasium in Munich. In December, a small group of 5th year students travel to Munich and go to school for a week with their German exchange partners. They stay with their partner’s family and get to see what a week as a teenager in Munich is like. Our students love taking the underground to school, exploring the Christmas markets, and some even get to see a soccer match at the Allianz Arena! The German exchange partners come to Midleton in March, when we get to show them what life in Cork is like. The exchange has proven to be about more than just language learning. It is a fantastic experience for our students, because it allows them to go beyond the textbooks, and experience German life first hand.
